Cookie Policy

A clear explanation of the cookies placed on your device when you visit Pirate Pots UK, and the controls available to you.

Last updated: January 2025. This Cookie Policy applies to Pirate Pots operated by Green Champions Leader SRL, Costa Rica.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet or smartphone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites function correctly, to remember your preferences and to provide information to the site owner about how visitors use the site.

Cookies cannot carry viruses or install software on your device. They do not give us access to your device or any information beyond what you share with us through your use of the site. Most web browsers accept cookies by default, but you can configure your browser to block or delete them - see Section 4 for instructions.

We use four categories of cookies on Pirate Pots: strictly necessary, functional, analytics and marketing. Each category is described in detail below, along with a list of specific cookies and their purposes.

✦

2. Cookie Categories

2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the website to operate correctly. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality such as account login, form submissions and security protections. No consent is required to place these cookies as they are technically necessary for service delivery.

Cookie Name Purpose Duration
session_id Maintains your login session across pages. Without this cookie you would be logged out on every page navigation. Session (deleted when browser closes)
csrf_token A security token that protects forms against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks. Required for all form submissions including deposits and account changes. Session
cookie_consent Stores your cookie consent preferences so that the consent banner is not shown repeatedly. Records which cookie categories you have accepted or declined. 12 months

2.2 Functional Cookies

Functional cookies allow the website to remember choices you make and provide enhanced, personalised features. They do not track your activity on other websites. Disabling these cookies may affect the performance and personalisation of your experience on Pirate Pots.

Cookie Name Purpose Duration
currency Stores your selected display currency (GBP by default) so that amounts are shown in your preferred denomination across sessions. 12 months
theme Remembers any display theme preference you have selected, such as high-contrast mode or alternative colour scheme. 12 months
remember_me Set when you tick "Remember me" at login. Keeps you logged in between browser sessions so you do not need to enter your credentials each visit. 30 days

2.3 Analytics Cookies

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with Pirate Pots. The information collected is aggregated and anonymised - it cannot be used to identify you personally. We use Google Analytics (provided by Google LLC) to collect and analyse this data. By understanding how the site is used, we can improve navigation, content and overall user experience.

Cookie Name Purpose Duration
_ga Google Analytics primary identifier cookie. Distinguishes unique visitors by assigning a randomly generated client ID. Used to calculate visitor, session and campaign data. 2 years
_gid Google Analytics cookie used to distinguish users. Stores and updates a unique value for each page visited on the site. 24 hours
_gat Used by Google Analytics to throttle the request rate - limits the collection of data on high-traffic sites to prevent server overload. 1 minute
analytics_session Internal session tracking cookie used to associate page views with a single browsing session for analytical reporting purposes. Session

2.4 Marketing Cookies

Marketing cookies track your activity across websites to help us and our partners deliver advertising that is relevant to your interests. They also allow us to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns and attribute player registrations to the correct referring source. You can opt out of marketing cookies at any time without affecting your ability to use the site.

Cookie Name Purpose Duration
fbp Facebook Pixel identifier. Used to track conversions from Facebook ads, optimise ads based on collected data and build audiences for future campaigns. 3 months
tracking_ref Records the affiliate reference ID attached to your visit so that new registrations can be attributed to the correct marketing partner or campaign. 30 days
campaign_id Stores the marketing campaign identifier (UTM parameters) from the URL you arrived via, allowing us to measure which campaigns drive registrations and deposits. 30 days

3. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies on Pirate Pots are placed by third-party services rather than directly by us. We do not control these cookies and you should review the respective third-party privacy policies for more information:

  • Google Analytics (Google LLC) - Provides website usage analytics. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
  • Payment processors - Widoma Trading Co. Limited and other payment service providers may set cookies or use tracking technologies during the deposit and withdrawal process to prevent fraud and verify transactions.
  • Affiliate trackers - Our affiliate marketing partners use tracking cookies to attribute player registrations to referring websites. These cookies record visit source information but do not collect personally identifiable data directly.
  • Game providers - Certain game studios may embed tracking pixels or cookies within their game content when loaded on our platform. These operate under each studio's own data practices.
✦

4. Managing Cookies in Your Browser

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Instructions for the most common browsers are provided below. Note that disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of Pirate Pots - see Section 7 for more information.

Microsoft Edge

✦

5. Google Analytics Opt-Out

If you wish to prevent Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits to Pirate Pots and other websites, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. This add-on instructs the Google Analytics JavaScript not to send visit information to Google.

The add-on is available for all major browsers and is free to download from: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

Alternatively, you can opt out of personalised advertising by Google by visiting adssettings.google.com. Note that opting out of personalised ads does not remove Google Analytics tracking - you must install the browser add-on for that.

✦

6. Mobile Cookie Management

If you access Pirate Pots on a mobile device, cookie management depends on your browser and operating system:

  • Chrome on Android - Open the Chrome app, tap the three-dot menu, select Settings, then Site Settings, then Cookies. Toggle cookies on or off as required.
  • Safari on iOS - Go to Settings, scroll to Safari, and adjust privacy and tracking options under Privacy and Security. You can also clear cookies by tapping Clear History and Website Data.
  • Firefox on Android - Open the Firefox app, tap the three-dot menu, select Settings, then Enhanced Tracking Protection. Choose your protection level and manage cookie exceptions.
  • Samsung Internet - Open the browser, tap the menu icon, go to Settings, then Privacy and Security. Toggle cookies and manage site-specific exceptions from here.

In-app browsers (those launched from social media or other apps) use the settings of the parent application rather than your default mobile browser. Check the settings of the relevant app if you access Pirate Pots through an in-app browser.

✦

7. Consequences of Disabling Cookies

You have the right to accept or decline non-essential cookies. However, disabling certain cookies may affect your experience on Pirate Pots:

  • Strictly necessary cookies - Disabling these will prevent the site from functioning. You will not be able to log in, make deposits or use any core features. We strongly advise against blocking these cookies.
  • Functional cookies - Disabling these means your preferences (currency, theme, remember me) will not be saved. You may need to re-enter your settings each visit.
  • Analytics cookies - Disabling these has no impact on your user experience. The site will continue to function fully. We simply receive less data about how it is used.
  • Marketing cookies - Disabling these means the advertising you see (on other websites) may be less relevant to your interests. Affiliate attribution may also be affected.
✦

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the cookies we use, or applicable regulations. When we make significant changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via the cookie consent banner on your next visit.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies. Your continued use of Pirate Pots after any changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
